Start with one item

Open Add items and choose Type it, Photo or Voice. Add the details you need, choose a place and group if useful, and save. You can edit items later.

Why isn’t photo identification available?

Apple Intelligence needs a supported iPhone or iPad, iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, and an available model for your language and region. Check the status in Settings → Ask & extraction. You can still attach photos and type item details without AI.

Some devices process the image itself; others use image labels and recognized text. Spread belongings out, make labels readable, and review the suggested list. An optional compatible server can be configured in Settings.

Why didn’t my voice note turn into text?

Allow microphone and speech recognition access when asked. On-device transcription must be available for your language and device. Buddy does not upload the recording as a fallback; type the details if transcription is unavailable.

Exports are reports. Backups restore everything.

Items → Your move → Save a copy lets you export Excel, CSV, a text-only PDF or a ZIP of photos and clips. Reports can be limited to a place. A full backup always includes the whole inventory.

For a new device, use Settings → Import & export → Save a backup, transfer the .movingbuddy file, then Restore from backup. Restoration replaces existing data, so save a backup of the receiving device first. Test a restore before deleting the original app or device data.

Moving day and Final photos

Open Moving day from Items, pick a place, set its date if useful, and tick belongings off as they arrive. Places marked Staying are excluded from move totals.

Settings → Tools → Final photos adds an optional album tab for dated photos and clips of rooms and storage. Turning it off hides the album without deleting it.

Privacy and app lock

Settings → Privacy → App lock adds Face ID, Touch ID or device-passcode protection when you return to the app. Read the privacy policy for storage, permissions and optional server details.

Bought it on another iPhone or iPad, or reinstalled the app? Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Settings → Moving Buddy Full and tap Restore purchase. Family Sharing works too.
